Crytek UK is a video game developer situated in Nottingham, England. It was once named Free Radical Design and was founded, in April 1999, by the former rare members David Doak, Steve Ellis, Karl Hilton and Graeme Norgate, who contributed to great games such as GoldenEye and Perfect Dark. The company was bought by Crytek however in February 2009 after the company went into administration in December 2008.

With a team of only 18 people, Free Radical managed to release the game Timesplitters (original). Growing in size each time, Free Radical released Second Sight, TimeSplitters 2, TimeSplitters : Future perfect and HAZE. The company’s reputation was made from the very popular TimeSplitters series.

After being brought by Crytek, the hopes for the company are very high and TimeSplitters 4 is highly anticipated.
